Floor and ground surfaces shall be stable, firm and slip resistant. It should also be cleared from rubble.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind in regards to floors:

  • When working or living with persons with disabilities, avoid leaving things on the floor, obstacles could create a trip hazard;
  • Paths need to be cleared of rubble and clearly marked;
  • Ramps or other concrete or cement floor should be roughened to avoid being slippery when wet;
  • Guardrails shall be installed to delimit space and opening in floor.
